French Toast Croissant Sandwich

Okay, I don't even know how to put this into words, I can't. Let's try through imagination. Just paint a little picture in your head of the crunchy texture from the Frosted Flakes as you bite into your French toast that is in fact not toast but a croissant. So as you bite through the sweet and crunchy barrier of flakes, with that little trace of maple syrup, you reach the buttery croissant. You then suddenly become conscious of the fact that a warm, creamy burst of Nutella has just slipped its way into your mouth. What happens next is for you to recreate and find out. Have fun :)

Ingredients

  • 2 croissants

  • Nutella

  • 100% maple syrup

  • 1 1/2 cups Frosted Flakes, crushed

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 1-2 tablespoons of butter

Instructions

  1. Set up your work station. In one plate add your crushed flakes, then whisk 2 eggs and milk in a shallow bowl. Have your croissant sliced in half and spread both sides with Nutella and close the sandwich.

  2. Dip the sandwich into the egg/milk mixture. Flip, and make sure both sides are covered with the mixture well.

  3. Next press the sandwich into the flakes making sure it sticks around all sides.

  4. Heat a nonstick pan over medium heat. Once hot add 1 tablespoon of butter. Melt and spread around pan.

  5. Carefully place the sandwich on the pan and press lightly with the spatula. Let cook for a minute or less then flip. Once each side has a golden color, remove from the pan. Add butter if needed and do the same to the next sandwich.

  6. Serve immediately, lightly drizzle some maple syrup and you can always add some powdered sugar over top :)
