Nutella Cheese Ball

There are tons of variations of cheese balls out there, and your options range from savory to sweet. So if we’re talking about a sweet ball of dipping goodness, then why not make it a Nutella one! Many cheeseball recipes contain cream cheese. While you could definitely substitute the mascarpone cheese in this recipe for cream cheese, I figured mascarpone was the way to go if Nutella was in the mix. Combining Nutella, mascarpone and powdered sugar created a deliciously sweet and delicate ball of yum!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Nutella

  • 8 oz. mascarpone cheese

  • ¼ cup powdered sugar

  • 1-2 cups of mini or regular chocolate chips or crushed hazelnuts

  • (spider look): chocolate icing or more Nutella for legs

  • Nilla wafers or other cookies for dipping

Instructions:

  1. Combine all ingredients into a mixing bowl.

  2. Use an electric mixer to beat until creamy and combined.

  3. Place a large piece of plastic wrap on the counter, then use a spatula to scrape all of the Nutella mixture into a pile on the center of the plastic wrap.

  4. Begin pulling the plastic wrap up, over, and around the mixture to create a ball shape. Twist the end of the plastic wrap tightly then place in fridge for at least 4-8 hours. Overnight works great too. You can put in the freezer for an hour or so to firm it up quickly. Just make sure it is in the fridge leading up to when you are ready to use it so it softens.

  5. Once ready to serve, place mini chocolate chips or crushed hazelnuts onto a plate, then roll the Nutella ball into them and press firmly so they stick on.

  6. Transfer to a serving platter with any cookies of your choice. *If you are creating this into a spider look for Halloween, simply spoon either Nutella or chocolate icing into a baggie. Then, snip off one of the corners and squeeze out. Draw on legs attached to the body (cheese ball).
