If you have a food processor, Vitamix or another strong blender, making homemade hummus is super easy. Making your own hummus is fun because you can get as creative as you would like. For this simple recipe, adding a small amount of wing sauce and toppings turned my basic hummus into a tailgate favorite!

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ cups canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed

  • ½ cup Frank’s Red Hot buffalo wing sauce

  • ½ cup water

  • 1-2 cloves of garlic, peeled

  • Salt

  • Ground cumin

  • ½ lemon, juiced

  • Optional garnish: ranch dressing, bleu cheese crumbles, chopped celery or chives

  • Veggies or pita chips for dipping

Instructions:

  1. Place chickpeas, wing sauce, garlic, water, lemon juice, salt and cumin in a food processor or Vitamix. Puree until smooth and creamy.

  2. Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with desired toppings or serve plain.
