Tuna Tataki Pizza
So this was an interesting change up in the kitchen and came out delicious! I guess you could say this is similar to having raw salmon and cream cheese with bread. The tuna was just freshly caught by my friend's dad and luckily we were able to enjoy it for dinner...another reason why I love living in Florida. Eating tuna tataki this way was new and I really loved it! If you buy or catch tuna and enjoy preparing it in your kitchen at home, this is definitely something I recommend experimenting with. Have fun!
Ingredients
1 cup sour cream
tablespoon finely chopped chives
tablespoon finely chopped red onion
tablespoon finely chopped pickled ginger
2 avocados, sliced
Naan bread, 2 pieces
Fresh tuna steaks
olive oil
sesame seeds
soy sauce
1 lime
Wasabi
pickled ginger
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400.
Prep all your toppings: mince the ginger, onion and chives. Then mix these into the sour cream. Set aside.
Slice your avocado, set aside.
In a dish or shallow bowl, pour in sesame seeds ( you may add salt and pepper, I didn't, it really did not need it). Press each tuna steak into the seeds, coating all sides.
Heat your pan and use about 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil, get it really hot. Make sure it is hot! Using tongs, place a steak onto the pan, only for about 20 seconds each side. Use the tongs to keep switching the sides to sear. Make sure you sear every side. Finish the rest of the tuna this way. Be careful not to burn the seeds.
Place the naan bread in the oven for about 4-5 minutes to get it nice and hot or toasty.
Transfer tuna to a cutting board and using a sharp knife thinly slice the tuna.
Remove bread from the oven and evenly spread the sour cream mixture then top with the avocado slices. Arrange the sliced tuna over the avocado.
Serve with a side of soy sauce, fresh lime wedges, wasabi and pickled ginger.
