NY Strip & Eggs

IMG_7608.JPG

Every once in a while slow the pace down and have a nice, hearty, sit down breakfast before work in the morning. You'll probably end up having a fantastic day :) Seriously, just look at it.

Ingredients

  • NY strip steak

  • olive oil

  • salt and pepper

  • Worcestershire sauce

  • Butter

  • Eggs

If you don't like the char crust, skip the searing part of the steaks. Just broil 5 minutes on each side instead.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400.

  2. Season steaks on both sides with seasoning of your choice or just salt, pepper, drizzle of olive oil and few splashes of Worcestershire sauce. Rub/massage well on both sides.

  3. Heat a cast iron or stainless steal pan (make sure it is oven safe) until real hot, splash water on it and when water bubbles rapidly move around quickly it's hot enough.

  4. Add steaks to pan let be for 4 minutes, flip, turn off heat, add a thin slice of butter on top of each steak and put in oven for another 4 minutes. That will give you a medium-rare steak. Cook in oven for another minute for medium steak.

  5. Remove from oven, transfer steaks to a plate or cutting board and let sit while you cook the eggs.

  6. Heat another pan with a drizzle of olive oil and one thin slice of butter. Once hot, crack open eggs and cook to your liking. One to two eggs per steak.

  7. Serve steaks with eggs and a side of multi-grain Italian bread, enjoy and have a wonderful day!
