Toasted ravioli bites make a great appetizer or snack for anytime and anyone! They are warm, cheese and comforting. They also make a great alternative for fried mozzarella sticks. They aren’t as greasy. I love using the refrigerated ravioli from Trader Joe’s for this because they have so many unique, tasty ravioli flavors. You can use any fresh ravioli or even frozen ravioli, whatever is easier for you to find or have on hand. These are definitely a crowd pleaser and enjoyed by grownups and kids alike!

Ingredients:

  • ½ pound of uncooked ravioli (around 250g) frozen or fresh

  • 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs (plus more if needed)

  • 2 eggs

  • Sprinkle of salt

  • 1-2 tbsp parmesan cheese, grated (plus more if needed for garnish)

  • About 1 cup of marinara sauce for dipping

  • Fresh parsley as optional garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400 for 5 minutes. In the meantime, assemble two bowls in your work station.

  2. Bowl 1: two eggs, lightly beaten.

  3. Bowl 2: breadcrumbs, sprinkle of salt, grated parmesan cheese (about 1-2 tablespoons)

  4. First dip a ravioli in the eggs, let excess egg drip off then place in the breadcrumbs bowl. Pat the breadcrumbs on the ravioli so they stick, then transfer to a plate, parchment paper or baking sheet (somewhere to hold all the ones with the breading).

  5. Continue until all the ravioli are prepped. You can either finish prepper all at once, or as you finish enough to start a batch, you can add them to the air fryer and work in batches at a time.

  6. For the air frying part: once it’s preheated, lightly spray the basket with some olive oil, then place the ravioli in the air fryer in an even, single layer, then give them another light spray. Cook for 3-5 minutes, just until they are golden and toasty. If they are frozen they will need about 8-10 minutes.

  7. Remove from the air fryer and serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping. You can garnish with grated parmesan cheese and freshly chopped parsley.
