These treats make a fun and festive dessert for any party!

What You Will Need:

  • Pretzel rods, 10-15

  • Rice Krispie cereal, 1 box

  • Mini marshmallows, 2 bags

  • White chocolate chips, for melting

  • Butter

  • Wax or parchment paper

Preparation:

Line a baking sheet or cutting board with wax or parchment paper. Should be a size that can fit in the freezer.

If you aren’t using short pretzel rods, cut the long kind in half.

How To Melt Chocolate:

Place chocolate in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds, then take out and stir. Continue to microwave in 10 to 30 second increments, stirring in between, until it is completely melted and smooth.

Step 1:

Melt a small amount of chocolate to use as “glue” for attaching the mini marshmallows to one end of a pretzel rod. Place on lined baking sheet, then place in freezer for a few minutes, or until chocolate has hardened to secure the marshmallows.

Step 2:

Melt more chocolate, this time enough for dipping. Dip the end of the rod with the marshmallows into the melted chocolate. Dip deep enough to completely cover the mini marshmallows. Set back onto the lined baking sheet and place in the freezer for chocolate to harden.

Step 3

Start making your Rice Krispie treats. Melt 3 tablespoons of butter in a large pot over medium heat, then add the two bags of mini marshmallows. Use a spatula to stir continuously until all the marshmallows are completely melted. Then turn off the heat and then start adding the cereal little by little while incorporating it into the melted marshmallow. You should use most of the box, if it is still really gooey you can add more as you need to, using up to the entire box.

Step 4

Remove prepared pretzel rods from the freezer. Using your hands, begin molding the Rice Krispies around the pretzel rod in the shape of a drumstick. To help mold the mixture, keep using wet hands. This will help the mixture not feel sticky and get stuck on your hands. It will also help the mixture not feel hot or burn your hands. Once you molded the drumstick, place back onto the lined baking sheet. After all the mixture is used, place the baking sheet with all the treats back into the freezer until they are strong and sturdy. Once they are ready, you can transfer to a plate and store in the fridge until ready to serve, or keep on the counter covered in plastic wrap.
