Five Cheese Gnocchi
So one of my cousins makes this amazing dish often, it is incredibly rich and tasty. The combination of these five cheeses are just heavenly! This isn't his exact recipe, I'm sure he has some of his own secrets and tricks up his sleeve. However, for the most part, these are the main ingredients. Enjoy!
I used gnocchi I made from scratch. I made enough to equal about four servings. You can see my homemade gnocchi post for that recipe or buy some from your grocery store.
Ingredients
Gnocchi
1/2 stick of butter
1 cup heavy whipping cream
about 1/2 cup or so of each cheese: Mozzarella, Parmesan, Romano, Asiago, and Gorgonzola
1/2 teaspoon salt
Top with: fresh parsley and fresh ground black pepper
Instructions
Prepare your cheese. In a large bowl, crumble the Gorgonzola and then grate the rest of the cheese into the bowl. Set aside.
Start heating water to boil and start the gnocchi. In the meantime, start the cheese sauce.
Heat a saucepan over low heat, add the butter. Once melted, add the cream. Keep stirring so the cream won't burn. Stir while on low until it starts to bubble lightly. Then add the cheese, keep heat on medium-low. Continue to stir until the cheese is melted and combined. Remove from heat and cover. Keep set aside until the gnocchi is done.
Drain the gnocchi, add to a serving bowl and add the cheese sauce, stir to combine.
Serve immediately, top with freshly ground black pepper and fresh parsley.
