Nutella Pastry Puffs
You matter how you create it, you cannot go wrong with the combination of buttery pastry dough and Nutella. You can create these without having to do much work. Make it easy on yourself. Open a can of Pillsbury pastry dough and a jar of Nutella. Create some little pillows of perfection, then pop into the air fryer or oven and in minutes you’ll have a deliciously warm treat. Adding a quick homemade glaze puts the icing on the cake!
Ingredients:
Nutella, about a tbsp per pastry
1 can Pillsbury pastry dough or crescent rolls
1 tsp madagascar vanilla bean paste (or regular vanilla extract)
3 teaspoons of oat milk (or whole milk, almond milk, cashew milk)
½ cup powdered sugar
Sprinkles
1 egg
Instructions:
If using the oven, preheat to 375 (350 if nonstick baking sheet). Otherwise, set your air fryer to 350 (preheat for 3-5 minutes before you start cooking the pastries). If using the oven, line a baking sheet with parchment paper (or grease with baking spray) and set aside.
Open the can of pastry dough and roll out. If they are the crescent rolls, don’t separate the triangles. Instead gently press the seams to “close” them up. Use a butter knife to create 8 equal rectangles.
Place about a tablespoon of Nutella on 4 of the rectangles, then place the other pastry rectangles over the ones with the Nutella. Gently press along to edges to seal them then use a fork to press its markings around the edges to create a design along its frame.
Whisk an egg then brush onto each pastry. Carefully arrange the 4 pastries onto your baking sheet. If using the air fryer, you may need to work in batches if they all don’t fit.
For the air fryer, cook for 3-5 minutes. For the oven, cook for 9-12 minutes. Pastries will be golden once done.
While the pastries are cooking, make your glaze topping by mixing together in a small bowl the powdered sugar, milk and vanilla. Whisk until smooth.
Remove the pastries from the oven or air fryer, let cool for a couple minutes then drizzle/spread the glaze overtop, then add some sprinkles. Let the glaze set, serve warm or at room temperature.
