Cheese and Balsamic Pizza
Grana padano cheese is similar to parmiggiano reggiano, but does have a more delicate flavor. It’s less salty, so it’s good to add to dishes when you don’t want the flavor to overpower the dish. That’s why it makes a great cheese to load on this white, cheese only pizza. The combination of mozzarella and grana padano makes a delicate and creamy, delicious duo. Something so simple that is then taken to the next level with something just as simple, balsamic glaze. These flavors combined bring true satisfaction and comfort. If you’re looking for a little more in your garnish, then go with fresh basil, lemon zest and hot red pepper chili flakes. Keep it simple.
Ingredients:
250g pizza dough, room temperature
All purpose flour, just for dusting
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shaved grana padano cheese, plus more for garnish
Balsamic glaze for drizzling
Optional garnish- fresh basil leaves, lemon zest, chili flakes and extra grated grana padano cheese
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 450.
Shred and shave your cheeses. Set aside.
Lightly dust a clean work surface with flour and begin to roll out your pizza dough into your desired shape. Transfer rolled out dough onto a well oiled baking sheet.
Sprinkle shredded mozzarella over the dough into an even layer, then do the same with the grana padano.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is melted and golden. Remove from the oven, then drizzle with balsamic glaze. Let cool slightly before cutting. Sprinkle a little more grana padano cheese. Then, as an optional garnish, you can add fresh basil, lemon zest and chili flakes.
