Guacamole

Who does not like guacamole?! It's just such a great topping, snack or addition to so many dishes. Besides using it as dip with tortilla chips, I love adding it on grilled chicken, steak, salads, or burgers. Once I stuffed and baked it in a chicken breast. That was delicious! I love mine spicy, so I'll either add jalapeno or scotch bonnet peppers. Another ingredient I like to add that gives it something special is a sprinkle of cinnamon. Give it a try!

You can always omit ingredients you don't care for. If you don't like onions, skip it. You can make guac as snazzy or plain as you'd like.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe avocados

  • 1/2 red onion, finely chopped

  • 3 small Roma tomatoes, diced

  • 1-2 limes (juice)

  • 1 jalapeno or scotch bonnet pepper

  • handful chopped cilantro leaves

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 tsp pepper

  • salt

Instructions

  1. Cut avocados in half and take out the pit.

  2. Scoop out the avocado flesh and add all of it to a bowl, add about 1 tsp of salt and roughly mash together.

  3. Add diced tomatoes, finely chopped onion, cilantro, minced garlic, jalapeno, lime juice, cumin, cinnamon, ground pepper and another tsp of salt. Lightly mix up until combined. If you need to add more lime juice go ahead. Avocados take a lot of salt so feel free to add more. Once it's finished give it a try and add salt to taste.
